Direct from the “Pink City” of Jaipur, The Dhamaal Dancers and Musicians of India will bring the colorful heritage of Indian song and dance to Kansas City. Playing traditional Indian instruments including the sitar, tabla, and sarangi, and performing dance and even acrobatics in colorful folk costumes, the Dhamaal ensemble will celebrate the opulent palaces and pleasures from the state of Rajasthan.
It’s a rare treat to experience the rich tradition of Indian classical music and dance. Leader of The Dhamaal Dancers and Musicians, Rahis Bharti is the descendant of seven generations of royal court musicians who played for the maharajas of India and is himself a UNESCO Cultural Ambassador. He and his troupe understand this music like few others. With centuries of history, the complexities and artistry of Indian music and dance are set to enthrall Kansas City audiences.
