Elexa Dawson LIVE! in the Lounge

at Big Brothers Big Sisters Kansas City

Elexa Dawson creates community-focused Americana music with soulful vocals and connection to land. Oklahoma Native, Elexa now calls the Kansas Flint Hills her home. Her debut album, “Music is Medicine” (Lost Cowgirl Records), has been nominated for five Native American Music Awards, and her single, “Mother” is the latest of two Top Ten hits on SiriusXM’s IMC. Potawatomi activist and educator, Elexa facilitates songwriting workshops, talking circles, and relational plant education.

First recognized as the founding member of Weda Skirts, two albums (Artist: The Skirts, “Many Moons” 2016, “Mother” 2018) present songs influenced by her Potawatomi heritage, nature, family, love and loss. Elexa also performs with Heyleon, a cross-pollination of established Kansas musicians. “Friends & Family” and “Fiddle Road” were both released by Elexa’s burgeoning record label, Turns Out Records.
