This dazzling cirque and dance spectacle celebrates the legendary Kansas City jazz scene and the artists who shaped it, blending the pulse of live jazz with breathtaking circus artistry. Tap dancers trade rhythms with live musicians, aerialists soar above smoky speakeasy stages, and acrobats flip and fly to the infectious swing of a live jazz band. Inspired by the golden age of the KC jazz clubs, swing halls, and underground speakeasies, the show transforms the historic Folly Theater into a vibrant celebration of music, movement, and gravity-defying spectacle.

For the past 11 years, Development Director Brian Williams has hosted the Folly Garden Party in the garden of his historic Hyde Park home. This year, he is passing the picnic basket to Board Vice Chairperson Mark Carlson, M.D., who will host the event at his equally stunning home in Old Leawood.

Recently featured in IN Kansas City for its impeccable décor, Susan and Mark Carlson’s home provides the perfect setting for this beloved tradition. We hope our Folly Friends will join us for picnic fare, live jazz music, and refreshing beverages.

The Folly Garden Party supports the Folly Theater’s general operations fund. These funds help preserve our historic theater, bring internationally acclaimed artists to the Folly Jazz Series and Folly Americana Series, and support so much more.
