The longtime Folly Theater supporter, Lockton Companies, has committed to be the presenting sponsor of the annual benefit concert, Folly Frolic, for the third year in a row!
What is Folly Frolic?
The Folly Frolic, originally hosted in the 1980s was a benefit to the, then newly reopened, Folly Theater. The Frolic was brought back to life in 2015 as a fundraiser to support the Folly Kids’ Series and raised $56,000 with a benefit concert by The Celtic Tenors.
Now in its fifth year, the Folly Frolic is a staple event for the supporters of the Folly Theater and many residents of Kansas City. The Frolic has brought a diversity of artists and music over the last few years including Karrin Allyson, Walker-McGuire, and Oleta Adams. Over four successful events since 2015, the Frolic has raised shy of $350,000 for the Folly Theater’s operations fund, which is used to finance the annual Folly Jazz & Americana Series, underwrite ticket & bus expenses for the Folly Kids’ Series, and maintain the, now 119-year-old, building.
This year, the Frolic is hosting a Folly favorite, The Hot Sardines on November 16th! Tickets will be available in late September!
The company was founded in 1966 by Jack Lockton. Jack opened Lockton with a commitment to not only his clients but to Kansas City’s growth and development. Since then, Lockton and its employees have donated money and volunteered time to several local non-profits and causes, including the Folly Theater.
