Chorus Kansas City: Voices of the Soul
Presented by Chorus Kansas City
One hundred and fifty voices strong, Chorus Kansas City is the area’s largest non-auditioned community choir, celebrating the joy of singing and the power of connection. CKC brings together adults of all ages who share a love for making beautiful music and building meaningful friendships. The CKC spring concert explores musical expressions of the soul. Included are works from the Sacred Harp tradition, spirituals, and contemporary American composers. The featured work is composer Jake Runstead’s “The Lighthhouse Keeper” accompanied by chamber orchestra. The composition, described as an “ode to a dear friend”, is a series of vignettes capturing a life journey of joy, beauty, loss, and renewal. The concert also includes performances by Kansas City Chambers Singers and the Shawnee Mission East Chamber Choir. Chorus Kansas City is under the direction of Dr. Kevin Coker.
