Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey celebrates 40 Years, “United by Dance,” by proudly presenting internationally renowned, Ailey II. Back from their smash European tour, and under the leadership of Artistic Director, Francesca Harper, the Ailey II dancers will bring their exhilarating performance to Friends in their only second home, right here in Kansas City. The performance promises to be filled with memorable moments.

Ailey II merges the spirit and energy of the finest dance talent with the passion and creative vision of one of today’s most outstanding choreographers. Founded by Alvin Ailey as his Repertory Company, in 1974, it might now be named Ailey II, but as Dance magazine extols, it is ‘second to none.’ Ailey II embodies Mr. Ailey’s pioneering mission to establish an extended cultural community that provides dance performances, training, and community programs for all people. Francesca Harper brings fresh perspectives to Mr. Ailey’s legacy, while nurturing creative voices and propelling the company forward.
